That number represents Cycler’s Amazon sales rank on the first day of sales. Yesterday it was 277,746.

Hi I was excited to read your book and then possibly recommend it to my daughters (ages 20, 17 and 13). I decided not to mention it, however, after reading what I thought was an unresponsible romanticization of sex ie. between Ramie and Jack. Where was the birth control? Because my girls may not believe in abortion (this is a personal decision and I dont pretend to know their innermost thoughts), one of my greatest fears is that they could become pregnant sooner than they planned, and thus have their life choices cut short by a 20 year +, wonderful but onerous responsibility called a child. Please protect our young women with more thoughtful prose.

Your daughters are lucky to have you looking out for them. The scene in question “cut away” before any sex actually happened so there was no way for me to introduce the subject of birth control. A lot gets omitted in any novel. I do mention birth control a few times in the sequel and, rest assured, these characters are smart, responsible kids.
