The mind-bendingly talented Scott Westerfeld, author of Uglies, Midnighters, Peeps, and so many thrilling tales it strains credulity, has just posted an interview with me on his website. Some highlights:

Wow your book seems really interesting from the interview! And i don’t think it was really 30 seconds. Ha ha! Anyway I’m totally going to recommend it to my friends. Great job!

wow, Lauren, I love how you actually respond to all these comments! you are totally cool, unlike some authors who claim they’re too “busy” to listen to their adoring fans. haha jk.
but still, that’s pretty awesome. and your life sounds amazing. i wish i could spend all day writing! instead, i get about an hour on the computer until my brother gets to kick me off. or i can write in my notebook until my hand cramps up. and there’s always that whole issue with school and homework…
bleh

Believe it or not, Audrey, even writing full time gets a bit bleh some times. But I do love it and it’s always so nice to hear from people. I think of my blog as a great sprawling conversation. I’ve learned quite a lot from it.

Best. Interview. Ever. All thanks to Andrew’s cat icon
I finally received my copy of the book in the mail yesterday and I was delighted to see that it is, quite literally, shiny! Then Alaya stole it from me.

Never let Alaya go near shiny things. Don’t you know this about her?

But they make her so happy! I can’t resist waving them in front of her face.
